Hope For Our City – Willmar, MN

Our truck, loaded with nutritious food

Although hunger is a sobering truth, there is hope! Hope for Our City!

Opening in 2010, Hope for Our City (HFOC) has been providing supplemental groceries at its weekly distribution to people from all walks of life. They include single moms/dads, young families, elderly, veterans, college students, employed, underemployed, unemployed, and the homeless. ALL are welcome regardless the circumstance, and everyone is served regardless of their ethnic background, race, or gender. People are not required to provide any type of qualification, or paperwork in order to receive the food. We do ask for $1 donation that is used to help offset the cost of the truck’s gas, upkeep, and insurance.

Every Tuesday and Wednesday volunteers sort through the food that has been donated and to get it ready for distribution.  Starting Wednesday afternoon the food is picked up by volunteers from neighboring areas who then distribute to families in their communities.  These communities include (but not limited to) Atwater, Belgrade, Cosmos, Grove City, Litchfield, Olivia, Spicer, and Willmar.

Every week HFOC distributes to families and individuals of Kandiyohi County and the surrounding areas.

The food we give out varies from week to week and often includes fresh produce, bakery goods, shelf-stable items, refrigerated, and/or frozen food products.

Our volunteers come from the local and surrounding churches as well as the community at large. It is an enormous task. We are truly grateful for their tireless helping hands and their commitment to meeting the ever growing need.
